One of the biggest mistakes of my life. May 12, 2009

Here is the email transaction (word for word) that took place between myself and a “wholesale” ipod seller who lives in Italy. My whole life I’ve been looking for an easy buck or a get-rich-quick scheme.

When you finish the thread, continue reading for the details.

Hi, my name is Kevin Levine

I recently expressed interest in buying ipods at wholesale to a friend and
recomended you. As I’m sure you are aware, not everyone is honest. But in
the near future i would like to do business with you- i see that you have a
minimum of 15 per order. As a favor- would yo be willing to do a first
order of 5 just to make sure everything goes smoothly- and if so- i
guarantee my return business for the remaining 10 and of course future and
larger orders. Please let me know how you feel about this or let me know
how youve dealth with this situation in the past. Thank you again for your
time and consideration. Like i said though, this would probably be at the
end of april- but i wanted to contact you first before any other sellers.
Thanks again.

from me again later in April, I look forward to doing business with you. In
your past experience- how long has the shipping to the US taken? And if I
made a payment, how would you return a receipt for that? Do you accept
paypal? Thanks again.

half the money and out of respect to you for me being so stupid you can keep
half, but at least leave me with some decency). haha- thanks again. If you
could also get a tracking number on the shipment i would REALLY appreciate
it just so i can keep track of how far it is and what not. i look forward
to continuiing business with you in the future.

Needless to say, this was the last time I ever hear from Mr. Maroti.  I emailed him many times and never got a response.
My room mate Mike loved the whole situation day by day and did a brief Google search for his name and came up with this: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/144/RipOff0144411.htm
..wish he would’ve done that search before I sent him the money.

Wave of the future. January 31, 2009

I believe that 2009 will be a year of change. Nothing to do with Obama. It has to do with the way people communicate. I forecast that people will start saying the word “period” instead of “dot” when giving web addresses and email addresses. So I would say, “My email is Kevyn period Levine at gmail period com.”

The Purple Tiger October 2, 2008

I was 17 working at McDonalds. At the time, one of the district supervisors or whatever would come in to the store every now and then and once called me “Tiger”, kind of like “sport” or “champ.”  Well one night while working the drive-thru my dad pulls up in an unfamiliar car and I’m like “Whose car is that?” and he tells me its my car. I was damn excited, it was like 9pm but it looked like a cool enough, black car.  The next day, in sunlight, I saw the car. It was purple. I was kind of scared at first, but thought it to be pretty funny.  I decided I wanted to put racing numbers on the side and top of the car and started a hunt for a locl vinyl-sticker specialist.  Harder than you would think but I eventually found a place in Freeport, NY.  When I went there I changed my mind and decided I wanted racing stripes instead, and that I wanted to name my car.  When I gave my final order, the guy just looked at me and laughed.

This car was eventually replaced with my grandma’s Chrysler Cirrus (a story for another time) and the Tiger was passed to my younger brother.  My younger brother continued to drive this car in my home town and I would often get calls from people who saw the car asking if I was home. I believe the legend of The Purple Tiger will forever live on in Plainview, NY.

Sadly, The Purple Tiger was taken off the street and donated to charity in August of 2008.

CHEEZIN October 1, 2008

I was driving to work one day, looked over at a passing car and read a license plate which I thought said “CHEEZIN”. I started laughing and I didn’t know why but I looked back and realized it was nothing like that. So I decided to purchase those plates instead.

One day soon after putting on the new plates, I walked out my house to see someone on a bike taking a picture of the back of my car.  First thing I thought was that I had hit something/someone and they were taking some pictures for evidence. Turns out they thought the license plate was funny too and just wanted to show someone else.

My first hit-and-run October 1, 2008

Providence, RI. I was driving with my room mate to Quiznos and in an attempt to find a spot in a packed parking lot, I made a mistake.  Driving my purple car, I saw a spot on the right hand side, I started to turn into the spot but I had gone too far. Outloud, I said, “I’m not going to make it.” but I was stubborn and kept going. I hit the car next to the spot I was aiming for, I wasn’t even close to not hitting it. It rocked back and forth for quite sometime. We got scared, ditched Quiznos and went to Friendlys instead. Good burgers there.

Lets say it is the summer time, you got your convertible roof-top down, go into a store for a few minutes, come back out and someone else has put the Club (anti-theft device) on your steering wheel. What could you do?

In the apartment complex I live in, there is another car which is the same year, make, and model as mine. I often get the urge to switch our license plates and watch the other car owner freak out for like 10 minutes before figuring it out.

Don’t look anytime I hear my name called.

If I get into an elevator and I go to push my desired floor and half way there I see my floor is already selected- to not push the already pushed button.
